Lisbon (Portuguese: Lisboa) is the capital of the Portuguese Republic. It was one of the most prosperous ports in Europe during the great voyages of the 16th century. Located at the westernmost point of the European continent, Lisbon covers an area of 84.8 square kilometers and has a population of 565,000. Unlike other major cities, the real "Lisburn" is confined to its historic downtown area, while the surrounding area grows into other cities. In fact, these cities are also part of greater Lisbon. To the west of the city is Monsanto Forest, one of the largest parks in Europe, covering 10 square kilometres.
Lisbon is one of Europe's milder cities, with an average of 3,300 sunshine hours and 100 rainy days a year overall.
The area of Lisbon has been inhabited by Iberians since the Neolithic age, and the city was first built by the Phoenicians and ruled by the Romans since 205 BC. Captured by the barbarians in the 5th century and captured by the Moors in the 8th century, the Mohammads built many mosques, houses, and new walls in the city. In 1147, the Moors at Lisbon were defeated by crusaders led by Alfonso I and became part of the Kingdom of Portugal. 1256 Lisbon became the official capital of Portugal. In the era of the Great Geographical discovery, many navigators, such as Vasco da Gama, set out from Lisbon to explore different parts of the world. In the 16th century, Lisbon was the most brilliant period. A large amount of gold was transported to Lisbon from Brazil, the Portuguese colony at that time, and high-quality ceramics were also produced here, making Lisbon the commercial center of a wealthy country in Europe. In 1755, an earthquake struck Lisbon, causing a severe decline in the city and its ports. Portugal's power began to decline.

When Napoleon invaded Lisbon in the 19th century, the royal family fled to Brazil and the city suffered some damage. During World War II, Lisbon was one of the few open Atlantic port cities. Now it is the political and cultural center, the largest port and the largest city in Portugal.
In terms of culture, Portugal is represented by three F countries: Fado(Fado), Fatima (Fatima) and Futebol(football). Figo, in its heyday, was known as the third F, which you can fully understand in Lisbon. It has a strong religious flavor, with churches and monasteries everywhere. People want to go to pilgrimage Fatima also can start from here. The Portuguese are proud of their snacks, food, wine and coffee, here is definitely worth a visit!
