PORTUGAL…LISBON, SINTRA, PORTO…which city is the best?

Everyone raves about Portugal Lisbon! So…I had high hopes. Don’t get me wrong, it’s cute, but…

At the same time…it’s hilly, has tons of windy roads, is super crowded, the sidewalks are virtually non-existent, + can be seconds away from getting hit by a taxi or tuk-tuk. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the city, learning about the history, eating avo toast with eggs at cute cafes, + noshing on some pastel de nata…but I won’t be moving there any time soon.

Portugal Sintra on the other hand couldn’t be more different than Lisbon. The palaces + castles are plentiful, breathtaking, + nestled inside the Sintra-Cascais National Park. The National Palace of Pena is full of vibrant colors whereas the Quinta da Regaleira is hauntingly gothic + dark.

But…
The city that takes the #1 ranking is hands-down Porto Portugal. WOW! What a visually stunning + charming city. And, Porto residents know it! This is where I’d live if I moved to Portugal. It’s very steep as well, but the gorgeous architecture, strolls along the Douro River, + talented street musicians more than make up for it.
