This video was filmed in Portimão Cannyon (Algarve, Portugal) on the 23rd of may 2012, and it shows one of the most remarking momments that our team had since the WeLikeSharks project started. It shows a magnificent 2m long femmale blue-shark (Prionace glauca), the biggest specimen of this species that we have seen untill now, swimming around the chum recipients, which are full of macerated sardines, leaving a trail of small particles floating in the water and going away with the current, thus attracting sharks towards the boat.

WeLikeSharks project aimed to contribute for shark conservation in the Algarve (south Portugal), through the study of the viability of shark ecotourism in this region as an alternative to fisheries.

This project was funded by the Save Our Seas Foundation, coordinated by APECE (Portuguese Association for the Study and Conservation of Elasmobranchs) and executed by ECOCEANUS ecotourism and GOBIUS communication companies, in partnership with the ICCM (Canary Institute of Marine Sciences) and Flying Sharks, and in collaboration with several other institutions.
