The view from the hide at this lovely reserve was very peaceful with just a pair of Coots and their chicks paddling about. Suddenly this very large otter appeared from nowhere and caused mayhem as he charged about the lake trying to catch the coot chicks. We couldn't tell if he actually succeeded but in the end he appeared to give up and found something more normal to eat. That's when we got the camera out ....
Still, it was an excellent and very unexpected view of a brilliant creature.
As you can see, the turtles weren't bothered about him and the Bee-Eater's flypast was an unexpected bonus.
